Course Requirements

1. Prerequisites for Participants

  • Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, risks, and applications.

  • Familiarity with ISO management system standards (like ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001).

  • Knowledge of basic auditing principles (ISO 19011 is helpful).

  • Good communication and writing skills in the training language (usually English).

  • Recommended: work experience in IT, risk, compliance, or management systems.


2. Course Duration

  • Normally 4–5 days (32–40 hours) of classroom or online training.

  • Includes lectures, case studies, role plays, group work, and a final exam.


3. Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001:2023.

  • Apply AI governance, ethics, and risk management principles.

  • Plan, conduct, and manage AI management system audits.

  • Report audit findings and manage corrective actions.

  • Lead an audit team as a qualified Lead Auditor.


4. Assessment

  • Written Exam: Knowledge of ISO/IEC 42001 and auditing skills.

  • Practical Evaluation: Performance in exercises, role plays, and case studies.

  • Attendance: Full participation (usually 100%) is mandatory.


5. Certification

  • On successful completion, participants receive an ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Lead Auditor Certificate.

  • Some providers issue certificates accredited by IRCA, Exemplar Global, or equivalent.

  • Performance evaluation, monitoring, and continual improvement

  • Introduction to auditing principles (ISO 19011)

  • Types of audits: internal, external, certification

  • Audit planning and preparation

  • Conducting an audit: methods, interviews, and evidence collection

  • Audit reporting, findings, and nonconformities

  • Managing an audit team and lead auditor responsibilities

  • Follow-up activities and continual improvement in audits

  • Practical case studies and role-play exercises

  • Final examination and certification requirements
